Biography / History
Ledger was created by Walter H. Whitaker when he operated a general store in Oddville, 4.5 miles north-east of Cynthiana (Harrison, Co.) Ky. Oddville was first settled in 1799 by the family of Josiah Whitaker, a Methodist minister. In 1851, Hezekiah Whitaker, a local shopkeeper applied for the establishment of a post-office. The post-office was in operation from June 5, 1851 to 1903, at which time the post-office closed.
