- Scope and Content
- The Struck Construction Company began in the middle of the 19th century as a planing mill but by early in the 20th century was one of Louisville's major construction contractors, building large public, commercial and industrial buildings. Near the end of its history, it also built overpass structures for Louisville's interstate highways. Clients whose construction projects are documented in the collection include the University of Louisville Medical School and library, WHAS television, the Reynolds Metals Company, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the Phillip Morris Company, the General Electric Company, and the Kentucky Department of Highways. In addition to photographs of construction, the collection also includes brochures and pamphlets describing the company and its work.
