Biography / History
Ida May Curtis (1861-1945) was born in Bethany, West Virginia to parents Jacob E. Curtis and Melissa G. Kerr. Her father was a farmer. After her mother died during Ida's childhood, her father married her mother's sister. She was sent to attend school at the Hamilton Female College in Lexington, Kentucky. She married George Albert De Long (1844-1910) in 1888 and continued to reside in Lexington; they had four children. She lived in Lexington until her death from a fall in 1945.
