- University of Louisville
- Scope and Content
- Henry Heft Reeder graduated from the Medical Department of the University of Louisville in 1915. At that time the medical school was just recovering from the criticism of Abraham Flexner's report on Medical Education in the United States and Canada (1910), strengthening its ties with the Louisville City Hospital and the rest of the University of Louisville, and raising its standards for admission and graduation. The school was located at First and Chestnut streets, having moved there from its previous location at Eighth and Chestnut in 1909, and its name did not change from Medical Department to School of Medicine until the 1923-1924 academic year. The Reeder Papers consist mostly of class memorabilia concerning the 1915 commencement ceremonies.
