- This collection of material relating to businessman and civic leader Allen Rose Hite and his wife Marcia Shallcross Warren Hite (1876-1946) includes biographies referring to the Hite, Rose, Lewis, Shallcross, and Warren families, and descriptive material on the Jacob Lewis pottery in Louisville and steamboats. Additional material includes the will of Allen Rose Hite and an appreciation written by Barry Bingham concerning Hite's bequest to the University of Louisville fine arts department, with a foreword by University of Louisville President Raymond A. Kent. The collection also documents activities of Marcia Shallcross Hite as an artist, including letters, lists of her paintings, and exhibition catalogs.
