Collection Overview

Scope and Content
This subject compilation on feuds, made by Berea College library staff, includes correspondence, manuscript descriptions of feuds, photographs, and clippings.
Included are five letters, three of which were sent to President William Goodell Frost, who apparently was preparing a lecture on feuds. Papers on feuds, produced predominantly by students or faculty, include descriptions of the following feuds: Callahan-Deaton, Hatfield-McCoy, Baker-White, Phipps-McNeil, Tolliver-Martin-Logan, and Turner-Sowder. Of the six papers present, only two are dated. Newsclippings and published articles (1898 - 1977) are also present.
Unpublished inventory/register.
