Collection Overview

Biography / History
Leonard Casper was a professor of English at Boston College, who wrote Robert Penn Warren: The Dark and Bloody Ground, which was a criticism of Warren's major literary works. Robert Penn Warren, born and raised in Kentucky, was a poet, critic, novelist and college professor. Some of the universities that he taught at include Vanderbilt University, Southwester College, University of Minnesota, Yale University and Louisiana State University. While at Louisiana State University he founded the Southern Review. In 1986, Warren was appointed the country's first Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry. He also published sixteen volumes of poetry in which he received several Pulitzer Prizes for some of his poems. Warren also published ten novels, two of which were turned into movies. These were All the King's Men and Band of Angels.
