Scope and Content
Captain with the British Royal Navy. Primarily coprrespondence concerned with Dobb's career in the British Royal Navy. Letters, 1822 and 1823, regard his account with the Richard Cartwright Estate and the Derrwin Company in Canada. Letters from 1824 concentrate on Dobbs' attempts to secure a position with the Royal Navy's South American Station from Lord Melville, and his efforts to discredit claims of mental unstability against him. Includes a 1794 marriage certificate and a list of loyalists in Canada to whom claims are owed by the British government
