Biography / History
Edgar Boyd Martin was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 2, 1886, the son of Silas D. and Pattie (Lovell) Martin. Boyd Martin received his education at du Pont Manual Training High School, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Louisville. He Married Julis Johnson, of Louisville, Ky., November 29, 1912; Mrs. Strother Smith, 1960.
Summary of Significant Events
Presented the Minerva Award from the University of Louisville for eminence in academic and professional activities.
Member of Phi Lamba Epsilon.
Published: Modern American Drama and Theater (c46)
Organized theater trains from Louisville to New York City - an idea that was copied in other parts of the country.
Recognized leader in the little theater movement.

The Boyd Martin notebooks contain newspaper clippings, reviews of plays performed, and cast listings from programs of plays presented in Louisville from 1904 to 1922. Many of the reviews were written by Boyd Martin himself.
