Businessman, historian, lawyer. Bennett Henderson Young, a native of Jessamine County, Ky. interrupted his education at Centre College in Danville, Ky. in 1862, in order to enter Company B, Eighth Kentucky Regiment, Morgan's Cavalry, C.S.A. After the war, Young studied law in Ireland and Scotland and then returned to the United States to open a law practice in Louisville, Ky. in 1868. He was involved in railroad ventures, served as a delegate to the Kentucky Constitutional Convention in 1891 and wrote several books concerning the history of Presbyterianism in Kentucky and military history.
