Biography / History
James Dixon Black was born in Knox County, Kentucky, in 1849. At the time this letter was written he was the Lieutenant Govenor of Kentucky. The next year A. O. Stanley resigned as governor to take a U. S. Senate seat. This made Black governor of Kentucky.
