Albright, reflects on the evolution of the community college system after its inception in the late 1940s. Albright focuses on the period relating to Kentucky Governor Bert Combs' effort to establish a statewide system of community college education in the early sixties and the ultimate decision to vest governance of those institutions under the University of Kentucky. Albright concludes with a brief discussion of the efforts universities and colleges around the state made to protect their own interests in community colleges and Kentucky Governor Paul Patton's 1997 legislation to consolidate the community college system. 2012 View Collection Guide to obtain rights information.
