The Elkhorn Distillery Records consist of three letterbooks.

The first letterbook, 1868 August 29 to late 1870, is inscribed by James M. Stone in Paynes Depot, Scott County, Kentucky. Some notes include details about the date of purchase for various items, and requests for items to be shipped.

The second letterbook, 1868 November 10 to 1870 April 27, contains letters signed on behalf of Stone & Shropshire in Lexington, Kentucky. The letters were sent to various business associates in other states confirming sale and orders for barrels.

The third letterbook, 1871 November 27 to 1872 July 12, is inscribed by J.C. Cantrill in Georgetown, Scott County, Kentucky.
