Raised on a farm in Scott County, Sargent tells how he developed his interest in Quarter Horses as a young man and worked to establish himself as a nationally recognized trainer winning multiple American Quarter Horse Association championships. In 2006 he became the first Kentuckian to be named the AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year. Sargent reflects on his early years as a trainer, his judging experiences, the significance of the Quarter Horse in Kentucky, and the challenges of working in the industry.
